Distribution, Outlets, Valves and Alarms
Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of medical gas and vacuum system distribution, including various piping materials, installation techniques, and best practices for ensuring system integrity and preventing contamination. The course delves into the function, location, and maintenance of zone valves, crucial for isolating medical gas flows in specific patient care areas during emergencies or maintenance. Terminal units (outlets and inlets) will be examined in detail, covering their types, connection mechanisms, and common service issues. A significant portion of the course is dedicated to master and area alarm systems, their operational principles, and the protocols for responding to various alert conditions. Practical hands-on sessions will reinforce theoretical knowledge, preparing students for real-world service and troubleshooting of these vital medical infrastructure components, culminating in a capstone project that simulates a complete service scenario.
